Roll Compactor

A Roll Compactor is a dry granulation machine used to convert fine powders into dense sheets or granules without using a liquid binder. It is widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical, food, and powder processing industries to improve flowability, reduce dust formation, and enhance compressibility for further processing, such as tablet compression or capsule filling.

How a Roll Compactor Works

1. Material Feeding

  • The dry powder is fed into the compactor using a screw feeder or gravity feed.

  •

2. Compaction Process

  • Two counter-rotating rollers apply high pressure to the powder, forming a dense ribbon or sheet.

  •

3. Size Reduction & Granulation

  • The compacted sheet is passed through a granulating unit (breaker or mill) to achieve the desired granule size.

  •

  • The final granules are screened to ensure uniform particle size.
