Coating Pan

A coating pan is a pharmaceutical processing machine used for coating tablets, pills, candies, and granules with a protective or functional layer. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, and confectionery industries to enhance appearance, taste, shelf-life, and drug release properties. The coating process involves applying sugar, film, or enteric coatings using a controlled spray system while the pan rotates to ensure uniform coverage.

Coating pans come in different designs, including traditional, perforated, and automated models, depending on production needs. They are equipped with hot air blowers, spraying nozzles, and variable speed control, allowing precise film thickness, uniformity, and efficient drying. The system is designed to improve batch consistency, reduce manual intervention, and enhance the overall quality of coated products.

The coating process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of tablets but also serves crucial functional purposes. It can mask unpleasant tastes or odors, protect moisture-sensitive drugs, and provide a controlled or delayed-release mechanism. Modern coating pans integrate automated controls for temperature, airflow, and spray rate, ensuring precision and efficiency in large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing.

With the advancement of coating technology, manufacturers now use high-efficiency coating pans that optimize energy consumption and reduce material wastage. These machines ensure uniform coating, faster processing, and reduced operational costs, making them an essential component in any pharmaceutical or food production facility.
